Vase phase: Part 1: The reed diffuser base.
Part one because it’s the least attractive or impressive. (also the first.)
I’ve never been especially good at collaring in. I’ve been working on it this week, and I might make it my goal for this fall. Well, I might make it one of my goals. I didn’t draw enough off of the bottom of this piece, because I was in too much of a hurry to practice collaring. I’m going to be trimming roughly half of it’s weight away.

It was going to be taller, but I now know that over-worked clay doesn’t collar in well. It pulled apart because it was overstressed and inconsistent. This is why I usually let reconstituted lay fully dissolve and then set for a few days.
WOW, I said a lot about this really boring piece!
